The goal of our Zero to Hero workshop event is to give people with little or no experience, a fun opportunity to learn the basics of Balboa in a single day!
Once you've done Zero to Hero, you'll know enough Balboa to enjoy a whole dance! We recommend you try our Balboa I class to further refine the basics and learn some new moves!
If you've never done Balboa before, or if you could really use some review, enjoy this quick introduction to Balboa!
In honour of our Balboa-themed Zero to Hero workshop and Canada Day, we'll be having some amazing live music! We're excited to announce amazing musical guests: Bria Skonberg all the way from Vancouver, BC, and Solomon Douglas, a Toronto native! Not only are they both Canadian, they're two of Canada's favourite jazz artists for swing dancing! Bria Skonberg is a West Coast sensation as a Jazz band leader, vocalist and trumpet player. She's won some impressive awards, including the CBC Jazz Award of Merit, but just as importantly she's won over the hearts of the swing dancers in Vancouver, Seattle and beyond! A pianist by profession, Solomon Douglas is also a Lindy Hopper who's become a popular band leader in the swing dancing community worldwide because he understands what swing dancers love! He's brought his Solomon Douglas Swingtet to Ottawa before and received rave reviews, so we're excited to have him back!
This is a great opportunity to learn with some of Ottawa's top Balboa teachers! Check out the teachers.
