Wedding Dances - Stress-Free Lessons
Make Swing your First Dance!
Swing is a popular choice for many brides and grooms for their first wedding dance. We've had the pleasure of working with many engaged couples to prepare them for the most exciting and special dance of their lives! Here's one example of a swinging' wedding dance.
Why Swing?
There are many reasons to make swing your wedding dance!
- Traditional but fun! - Many couples want their first dance to be traditional, and also to reflect their own personalities. Swing dancing lets you do just that.
- Romantic! - Most of the great classic love songs are perfect for swing dancing, from classic Jazz standards to modern love ballads. In fact, if you have a song in mind right now, there's a good chance you can swing to it!
- Stress-Free - Swing dancing is a fun, personal style of dance, and it doesn't even have to be done "perfectly" to be enjoyable and even impress your guests! We'll show you lots of tips to keep it fun, and to magically recover from "mistakes" so that no one will even know!
- NOT Boring. - To put it simply, some of our past wedding dance clients had just one request: "we just don't want it to be boring!" Swing dancing is possibly the only social dance in which we can show you exciting, impressive moves in only a few hours of classes. Waltzes are wonderful, but it can take years to master more than the basics. Don't let your guests get droopy-eyed during your first dance. With a swing song and some fun swing moves, they'll be asking how you'd hidden your dance talents for so many years!
- Groom-Friendly - Let's be honest: many grooms aren't as excited about their first dance as their lovely brides are. The good news is that swing dancing is a great first dance for guys because you can fit the dance to your personality, whether you're an engineer, a football player, a musician--or even all three! We'll help you find the moves that work for you. You'll be surprised at how much you'll enjoy it!
- Varied and Versatile! - There are several different swing dance styles, each suited to a different style of music. All together, swing dancing is simply the most versatile partner dance, giving you a wide range of musical styles to choose from. If you enjoy Swing, Jazz, Blues or Rock 'n Roll, you can enjoy dances like the Lindy Hop. And if your musical tastes are more modern, you can try West Coast Swing!
- From Smooth to Acrobatic - Similarly, the different swing styles allow you to make your dancing look the way you want it to. From smooth, romantic slow dances to faster dancing, kicks and even dips, drops, lifts and other acrobatic moves, you have a lot of options! (And yes, we'll help you figure out how to make everything work in your dream dress!)
Wedding Music
We can also help you pick out the perfect song for your wedding dance — something that you'll enjoy dancing to, and that expresses the mood and feelings you want to experience on your wedding day. Here are some examples of artists that you can dance to:
- Glen Miller - In the Mood
- Frank Sinatra - Fly Me to the Moon, LOVE
- Michael Bublé - Everything
- Nina Simone - My Baby Just Cares for Me
- More modern artists: Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz
